Kevin Hayward and Sean Venckus were Sergeants in the U.S. Army’s 1/303 Armor Battalion stationed in Baghdad, and after two tours of Iraq they were honorably discharged on April 20.
Two days after they got out, the pair of devoted baseball fans started on the road, leaving the Great Northwest and storming America’s ball fields with their laptop.
Both are from Federal Way, Wash. Sean, 23, is a Baltimore Orioles fan, and his most vivid memory was that of watching Eddie Murray club his 500th career homer. Kevin, 25, is a Mariners fan, and says it’s because of their ’95 season, when they beat the Yanks in five behind Junior Griffey.
Now you can be an embedded fan thanks to this MLBlog, so join Kevin and Sean as they roll out.
Right now, seeing America and its baseball stadiums.
